Gayophytum diffusum Torrey & A. Gray (Gayophytum, Spreading Groundsmoke, Diffuse Gayophytum)

Journal entry: 2011 July 16. Two yellowish spots at the base of each petal. Petals 4mm long; plants very branched and about 4dm tall. I was unable to determine the subspecies; petals >3mm keyed to G. diffusum. The left-most image above was deliberately over-processed to display some details. To the naked eye, the petals had a very very slight pink-violet tinge, barely so.
